# Exam Paper Roll Supplier: How to Check Core Fit?

**B2B procurement · Specification review**

An exam paper roll supplier should approve fit with the buyer's actual table holder, not with roll width alone. Match the core's internal bore to the rod, check the usable holder width and roll outside diameter, then pull and tear a production-representative sample in the table.

This is a purchasing fit check for disposable examination paper. It does not establish sterility, medical-device status, wet strength or a universal holder dimension.

## What should the buyer approve first?

An exam paper roll supplier should approve fit with the buyer's actual table holder, not with roll width alone. Match the core's internal bore to the rod, check the usable holder width and roll outside diameter, then pull and tear a production-representative sample in the table.

## Exam Paper Roll Supplier: Start with the holder, not a catalog width

An exam paper roll supplier can quote the requested sheet width and still send a roll that will not turn freely in the installed holder. Before requesting a sample, record the table or holder model, the available space between supports, the rod diameter, any end caps and the permitted roll outside diameter. A photograph with a ruler is useful for identification, but it should accompany dimensions rather than replace them.

The equipment maker’s limit is specific to the model. For example, the [Midmark/Ritter 222 and 223 instructions](https://technicallibrary.midmark.com/PDF/003-1592-99.pdf) list different maximum roll envelopes for different variants. That example shows why a buyer should check the exact manual instead of treating one common market size as a universal fit. The manual does not approve a Sansheng roll or define the core-bore clearance for a different table.

If several clinics use different holders, make a model-by-model compatibility list. Do not average their dimensions into one nominal size. Decide whether a single roll can serve all sites or whether two controlled SKUs are safer than an ambiguous 'fits standard tables' claim.

## How should the exam paper roll supplier measure the core?

Ask the exam paper roll supplier for the internal core diameter at both ends of a finished roll, the core material, the amount of core protrusion and the method used to check each value. Measure the rod or spindle separately. A roll can slide onto a bare rod but still bind after end caps or support brackets are installed.

A cardboard core may not be perfectly round. Record the smallest relevant bore and any crushed or distorted areas rather than reporting only a convenient opening. If the holder uses spring-loaded end supports, check how much free movement remains after the roll is installed. The buyer and supplier should agree the acceptance window from real holder samples; this article sets no universal clearance number.

Give the exam paper roll supplier a core specification tied to the exact construction and wrapping version. Substituting a different core supplier or wall thickness after sample approval can change the practical fit even when the paper itself looks unchanged. Put core and holder compatibility in the controlled specification, not only in an email photo.

## Width and diameter are separate fit decisions

Check the finished roll width against the holder's usable span, then check the maximum outside diameter against the available space during rotation. A roll that fits when partly used may jam when new. A narrow roll may mount easily yet leave too little table coverage for the clinic's intended use.

Ask the exam paper roll supplier to measure a production-representative roll rather than a loosely wound hand sample. Winding firmness and sheet count can change the outside diameter. If the sample is compressed in transit, let it recover under an agreed condition before comparing it with the purchase limit; record the condition rather than quietly changing the number.

Sheet length and perforation spacing affect how staff can advance and separate a usable section, but they do not fix a core mismatch. The related perforation decision deserves its own acceptance rule. First establish fit, then examine dispensing and tear behavior with the complete roll in the actual table.

## Run a short installation trial before a bulk order

Install an identified sample on each representative holder. Note whether the rod passes through without forcing, the roll turns without rubbing the side supports, the sheet feeds in the intended direction and the paper reaches the usable table area. Make a short video if it helps the buyer and supplier review the same failure mode.

Record the roll code, lot, dimensions, table model, holder version and trial outcome together. If the sample catches, identify whether the restriction is at the core, side clearance, outer diameter, sheet path or tear point. Do not solve a holder-geometry problem by merely changing paper tensile strength.

Ask the exam paper roll supplier to retain or document the approved physical sample with enough detail to compare later batches. If the distributor changes its equipment fleet, reopen the compatibility review; a passing sample for one table is not evidence that every holder on the market will accept the roll.

## The buyer's comparison record

| Record level | Fields to confirm | Buyer purpose |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Holder rod and ends | Rod diameter, end caps and support design | Check insertion and free rotation |
| Finished core | Internal bore at both ends and visible deformation | Prevent binding or loose mounting |
| Roll envelope | Finished width and maximum outside diameter | Avoid side rubbing or cabinet interference |
| Installed trial | Table model, roll code, feed and tear observation | Confirm the quoted SKU works in use |

## Sansheng product evidence and its limits

Sansheng's examination-roll product information names GSM, width, length, perforation, core fit, winding and packing as separate pre-shipment checks. That documented product scope supports including core and holder fields in a buyer specification. It is not a measured fit result for a named clinic table, and no passed Sansheng installation trial is claimed here.

## What belongs in the RFQ?

- Send the holder make/model, rod diameter and usable space between supports.

- Specify finished roll width, maximum outside diameter and core-bore acceptance method.

- Request a labeled production-representative roll and a short installed trial.

- State who approves the fit and what change triggers a new sample review.

For adjacent decisions, read [the related Sansheng purchasing guide](https://tissuepapersupplier.com/exam-paper-roll-supplier-traceability/) and [the companion specification check](https://tissuepapersupplier.com/exam-couch-roll-manufacturer-tear-force/). Keep each approval question separate.

## Questions buyers also ask

### Can an exam paper roll supplier quote by width alone?

Width is one required dimension, but it cannot establish core-to-rod fit or maximum outside-diameter clearance. Request all three before approval.

### Is a loose cardboard core enough to approve the order?

No. Test a finished roll on the actual holder. Winding, end caps and support clearance can affect installation and rotation.

### Does a holder trial prove medical compliance?

No. It is a physical fit check. Product classification, hygiene claims and market-specific obligations require separate review.

- [Midmark/Ritter 222/223 table instructions](https://technicallibrary.midmark.com/PDF/003-1592-99.pdf) **Supports:** Different table variants have different stated maximum paper-roll envelopes. **Limit:** Model-specific equipment instructions; not a universal core-bore tolerance or product approval.
